WILTSHIRE’S HAUNTED HALLOWEEN

With many historic buildings and ancient architecture, it’s no surprise Wiltshire has more than its fair share of ghosts and spooky goings on.
Halloween in Wiltshire is always a fiendishly fun experience with plenty of eerie events which will send shivers down your spine! Here are some of VisitWiltshire’s spooktacular highlights:
Halloween Ghost Walks by the Salisbury City Guides are part of their Spooky Salisbury event. These include exploring former prison cells which were located in the Guildhall and Debenhams in the Market Place which is reputed to be haunted by the Duke of Buckingham who was beheaded on the site and continues to look for his head!
The tours leave from outside the Salisbury Information Centre in Fish Row on October 25, 28 and 29, 30 and 31. Prices £2.50 per child, £5 per adult, with an increase to £3 per child, £6 per adult on Halloween itself.
The Salisbury Playhouse is running a ‘Play in a Day Halloween Adventure’ on October 27 from 10.30am – 3pm, where children between 5 – 7 years can spend a day working with directors, technicians, props, costumes and lighting in order to make their own special show.
Halloween Festival at Longleat Safari & Adventure Park is open from Saturday, October 11 - Monday November 3. It includes ghost tours in Longleat House, a giant Pumpkin Trail around the attractions, carve your own pumpkin and, if you are really brave, a creepily close encounter with Dracula in the infamous Bat Cave! There will also be Fiendish Fireworks on October 24, 25, 31 and November 1.
The Swindon and Cricklade Railway are running Halloween Ghost Train spooky evenings with ghosts and ghouls haunting the station between 6pm – 8.30pm October 31 – November 1.
The Trowbridge Museum is encouraging visitors to come and make scary Halloween trick or treat bags on 24 Oct and Halloween Mask activities on October 28. Minimum ages apply, limited availability and pre-booking required.
Bowood House has a range of Halloween activities from Monday October 27 – Friday October 31. A special Spooky Treasure Trail will be mapped out to lead children beyond the Adventure Playground and into Capability Brown’s pleasure grounds and Halloween themed arts and crafts activities will be available to visitors.
Marlborough Halloween Beer Festival supporting Teenage Cancer Trust will be open from October 30 – November 2 and the Kennet & Avon Canal in Devizes is running Halloween Specials on October 31.
