VisitWiltshire's Top Ten Treats For Mum This Mother's Day
Mother’s Day is fast approaching (Sunday 26 March), so if you are looking for some timeless pleasures in timeless places, then look no further - Wiltshire has it all. Check out VisitWiltshire’s top ten treats for Mum below:
Mums go free… a fun-filled day out on the farm
Mother’s Day is the start of the racing season at Roves Farm, so place your bets for the animal races plus its lambing time too! There are lots of animal activities and fun at Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm, plus a woodland walk and Bluestone Vineyard. Quote ‘Mum’s the word’ for free admission, when accompanied by a full paying child.
A day of English history and afternoon tea
Sample an award-winning afternoon tea at The Bridge Tea Rooms in historic Bradford on Avon. Make a day of it and walk around this historic town. Don’t miss the 14th century Tithe Barn, one of the largest medieval barns in England; the ancient bridge which still retains two of its 13th century arches and the Saxon Church.
Pamper yourself and recharge

Cruise along the Kennet & Avon Canal in Devizes

Head to the Red Lion Freehouse, East Chisenbury, a pub with a Michelin star, for an informal lunch or dinner. Nearby you’ll also find The Harrow at Little Bedwyn, which has an extensive wine collection in addition to their Michelin star restaurant.
Enjoy a concert in Marlborough
On 26 March at 7.30pm St Peter’s Church at the end of Marlborough’s High Street is hosting a Brilliant Young Musicians Concert with Rudi de Groote on the cello and Simon Watterton on the piano.

Spot the signs of spring around Mompesson House and Garden with the new family trail. 2017 is the 40th anniversary of the National Trust opening the house to the public. Open 11am – 5pm. Normal admission prices apply.
Experience the beauty of Lacock and its Abbey
Lacock Abbey, Village and Fox Talbot Museum is a picture-postcard destination. The village of Lacock is often used as a TV and film location. Stroll around the wooded grounds which are full of beautiful spring flowers and wildlife. Don’t forget to stop at the village bakery or chocolate shop.
Explore the Larmer Tree Gardens
The Larmer Tree will be opening for their 2017 season on Mother’s Day. Enjoy exploring these quirky gardens, with ornamental buildings, roaming peacocks and tea room. See if you can spot the fairies’ houses with Mum too! Makes a nice spot to visit after a lunch at nearby eateries the King John Inn or the Royal Oak Inn.
