With beautiful scenery, ample footpaths to while away an afternoon strolling hand-in-hand and even a village named Lover where better to spend a romantic trip with your loved one than Wiltshire?
On the edge of the New Forest National Park,
Lover has become a well-known village for its name. In the past romantics would be able to send Valentine's cards from Lover's post office and would receive the special postmark of 'Lover' printed on the envelope.
According to Wiltshire Council Lover's name is believed to come from a corruption of Lower Redlynch, an area that is not far from the original settlement of Redlynch.
Tinney's Firs is an attractive, 26 ha mature woodland near Lover, owned by the Woodland Trust. Visit the village, pose by the sign, then take a romantic walk in the wood.
