This lovely Country House is set amidst the rolling Wiltshire Downs and an ideal place from which to explore. Just North of Calne off the A 3102 and situated on a ridge between Bremhill and Compton Bassett. There are wonderful walks also from the doorstep over the Wiltshire Downs.

The house is located on a hill just North of Calne and you can walk for miles though fields and farmland and with woodland and lakes to enjoy also!

This is the perfect spot and ideal for tourism, leisure or business travellers. The central location means that many attractions can be enjoyed within a short drive: City of Bath, Bowood, Avebury, Lacock Abbey, Wilts & Berks Canal, Badminton, Marlborough, Corsham & Devizes… and many others– this is the perfect place to relax and visit the best of Wiltshire!

Wonderful English breakfasts are available and special requests are happily accommodated. Full 4 course dinners available if booked in advance although there are also many lovely pubs and restaurants close by.

Road Directions

Just off A3102 on road between Calne & Hilmarton, situated on a private drive accessed just South of roundabout to Chippenham, 30 minutes from Bath and Marlborough. From Bath go along the A4 to Calne and then turn left at the mini roundabout signed Wootten Basset. At the last roundabout turn right towards Calne Town centre and then immediately left up the private drive that says High Penn. From Marlborough turn right at mini roundabout signed Wootten Basset and then follow directions as above.

Public Transport Directions

Chippenham and Swindon bus and rail stations are each about 20 minutes away and are easy to connect onto the local bus route. The 55 and 55a both stop at the end of our private drive and then it’s a short walk up the drive for about 1/3 mile. The owner is happy to arrange collection from either station or from the bus stop! Cyclists will find an ideal route connecting from the main cycle routes across the Downs.
