There is always a warm welcome at The Old White Hart Bed and Breakfast. Situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Maiden Bradley, our family has been farming here for three generations. From the house you will catch sight of our Pedigree Charolais suckling cows with their curly blonde calves, and mark the farming year through the crops in the fields. Traditionally a farming community, horses and cattle were paraded for sale on the road in front of The Rank during the Spring and Autumn Fair markets until at least the mid 1800's.
Over three hundered years old, The Old White Hart is mentioned as an inn in 1709 on the crossroads of two important coaching routes - London to Barnstaple and Bath to Poole, but during its lifetime has also been part of the Wessex Silk industry and now a family home.
Maiden Bradley is a picturesque village with a Norman church and is the historic seat of the Duchy of Somerset. Jane Seymour reputedly lived in the village as did Jethro Tull (no, not the old rockers, but the inventor of the modern plough!). With spectacular views towards Frome, Longleat and Bradley Knoll, we are placed within easy reach of many renowned beauty spots and places of interest, such as Stonehenge and Stourhead, and only three miles from Longleat. We are also close to Bath, Salisbury and Wells and a wealth of other equally delightful small west country towns - the heart of an incredibly beautiful area, full of wonderful places to explore whatever your interests, welcoming pubs, stunning geographical features and breathtaking views and walks. We are happy to advise you on where to go and what to see.
In our home you have a choice of two comfortable double rooms, both with adjoining private bathrooms and either single or double beds. Both rooms have space for an extra fold out bed and a child's cot is available on request. If, like us you are concerned about where your food comes from, you will be relieved that we have a policy of using local ingredients, supporting local suppliers and producers and where possible using food from our own farm. Farmhouse breakfasts that include homemade bread and conserves, eggs from our own chickens and sometimes our own bacon, are served in our Dining Room. We are very happy to cater for any special dietary requirements.
We are a non-smoking house and cannot accommodate pets.
