Queen's Park
Queen's Park
Queen's Park is a calm oasis of just tranquillity a few minutes walk from the town centre.
The park was created in two phases in 1949 & 1964.
The modern park was recognised in 2001 when it was placed on the Parks & Gardens register by English Heritage as a Grade II site.
At the centre of the Park is a lake which is home to a wide variety of wildfowl. The park has a notable tree collection including Dawn Redwoods and Swamp Cypresses.
Queen's Park is popular with families, walkers or for people just wanting to relax.
Concerts are held here on Sunday afternoons during the Summer.
Two pieces of public art reside here, The Gorilla and Turtle Storm, see if you can spot them during your visit.
