Festivals

A diverse range of festivals are taking place in Swindon in 2010.

The first festival of the year takes place at The Arts Centre in February. The Harold Jolliffe One Act Play Festival is a chance for local amateur companies to come together and celebrate drama.

In March, the Swindon Music Festival is a chance to celebrate music in all its forms. A number of classes will take place for choirs, organs, pianoforte, strings and woodwind amongst others.

April sees the popular Wanborough Scarecow Trail taking place as well as the The Festival Of Sport and the Swindon Film Festival

The annual Swindon Festival Of Literature takes place in May.
The festival line up gets stronger each year.
There will also be a number of events that visitors can take part in.

The ever popular Swindon Kite Festival also takes place in May, as well as seeing an amazing array of Kites being flown, the festival will also have static displays, children's rides, workshops, caterers and trade stands.

May also sees the Fforde Fiesta which celebrates the work of the author Jasper Fforde and the Swindon & Cricklade Railway Beer Festival

The Old Town Festival is in June and offers a wonderful mixture of music, dance, guided walks, jazz, a funfair, children's rides, stalls, food courts, beer tent and a traditional parade through Old Town.

The incredibly popular Swindon Mela takes place in July. Swindon Mela is more than music and dance. There are plenty of ways to delve into and enjoy Asian inspired activities including all day arts and crafts workshops.

Swindon Shuffle will see a rich and diverse mix of local bands performing at various venues from the 12th-15th August on the 21st August it's the annual Wanborough Show and  Swindon Invincible Festival takes place in the Town Gardens on 28th August and brings together a mixture of live bands and DJ's to showcase Swindon's local talent.

In September, Swindon Railway Festival is at The Steam Museum, now in its ninth year the festival brings together some of the UK's biggest and best GWR Railway layouts and displays by Hornby and Bachmann. There are also steam demonstrations with traction engines and other steam machines. This popular festival appeals to the whole family.

The annual Swindon Beer Festival takes place in October and their will be ghostly goings on at the Swindon Ghost Festival.
