Failsafe Garden Plants

Between us, we’ve designed and built over 100 gardens. On this half-day workshop we’ll spill the beans and reveal the plants that we rely on to work well in any garden. We’ll explain how understanding the six layers of planting that occur naturally in any English garden can help you design successful planting. The course looks at trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials, climbers, bulbs and groundcover planting, suggesting reliable plants for each layer. We finish up by talking about the essential steps for getting plants established, as even the most bomb-proof plant will struggle without a little care and attention when it’s young.

It was all enjoyable and useful! I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

I just wanted to say a huge thanks for today. So much knowledge, practical help and inspiration, I found it very worthwhile.

I went on the Failsafe Garden Plants course last week which is the second Crafty Gardener’s course I have done, having done the Garden Design workshop last year.

Both were very enjoyable and really interesting. I have wanted to get more structure and regular colour to the garden throughout the summer, and Louise sets out key principles really well which have given me good ideas on what do at home.

I would thoroughly recommend these courses – they are small and friendly and encourage conversation which is interesting and also confidence building. Many thanks again to Louise and the Crafty Gardeners..!
