VisitWiltshire's New Guide puts Food and Drink on the Map
A new map showcasing the culinary magic conjured up by the county’s chefs, bakers and brewers has been published by VisitWiltshire as part of an integrated marketing campaign.
The ‘2018: It’s Time For Wiltshire Food and Drink Map’ features over 80 of the region’s finest producers, eateries, watering holes and cookery schools from a’Beckett’s Vineyard, in Littleton Parnell to the Woodbridge Inn in Pewsey.
Lucknam Park Hotel Cookery School is among three places highlighted in the guide where enthusiastic amateurs can hone their culinary skills with The Farm Cookery School, Bromham and Vaughan’s Cookery School, Devizes also on the menu.
There’s a selection of brewery and distillery tours featured including the Bombay Sapphire Distillery in Whitchurch, the Box Steam Brewery in Holt, and the Wadworth Brewery Visitor Centre in Devizes as well as a host of farmers’ markets.
Wiltshire is justly famous for its many watering holes with a huge choice of town pubs, village inns and countryside hostelries to choose from. Farm shops and cafés are also well represented.
Tearooms, coffee houses and cafes are the perfect places to while away an hour or so and watch the world go by with a warm drink and tasty treat. Beatons Tea Rooms in Tisbury are inspired by the style and elegance of Cecil Beaton. Visitors can also browse their small bookshop. Fisherton Mill – The Gallery Café is an award-winning café set within an atmospheric arts complex in the heart of Salisbury.
Enjoy the ambience of the historic AA Four Star Sign of the Angel in the beautiful village of Lacock. The Old Ale And Coffee House, Salisbury is a self-styled gastropub or there’s The Royal Oak in the idyllic setting of Great Wishford village for delicious home cooked food.
Chose from Michelin Star cuisine at Lucknam Park and fine dining at Rick Stein, Marlborough to the local produce at Visit Hillbrush in Mere and the organic food on offer at Helen Browning’s Royal Oak. Foodies really are spoilt for choice with dozens of amazing restaurants to discover including The Greenhouse Restaurant in Corsham and The River’s Edge Restaurant at the Rose & Crown Hotel, Salisbury.
The map even includes food festivals like Taste Wiltshire which takes place at Netherstreet Farm in Bromham in September, The Food & Drink Festival at Longleat and the Taste of Corsham which are both happening in June plus prehistoric diets are explored as part of the Feast! exhibition running at Stonehenge until September.
In addition to showcasing local produce the guide also celebrates cuisines from around the world such as Baroushka’s Middle Eastern dishes and Italian specialities at Milano.
A variety of food and drink outlets are also available at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon.
The map is part of an integrated consumer marketing campaign to increase the profile of Wiltshire's food and drink offer and includes activity such as social media, blogs, digital advertising and newsletters. 100,000 copies of the map will be distributed via targetted magazines, key outlets and events.
VisitWiltshire is the official Destination Management & Marketing Organisation for Wiltshire representing 600 partners. It is a public/private sector membership organisation. VisitWiltshire's priority is to grow the county's Visitor Economy by raising awareness of the destination and generating additional tourism visits and spend. Wiltshire's Visitor Economy currently generates an estimated £1.5billion and supports over 29,000 jobs.
The Food and Drink Map is one of a series of publications produced by VisitWiltshire including the Time for Wiltshire Visitor Guide, the Time for Wiltshire Visitor Map, a Wiltshire Towns Map (coming soon) and the Travel Trade Guide which have a combined total distribution in excess of 500,000.
