Make time for double the May Bank Holiday fun in Wiltshire
With two Bank Holiday Weekends to look forward to there are twice as many opportunities to make time for Wiltshire this May.
If you're looking for an ideal family event then head to Downton Cuckoo Fair on Saturday 5 May for live music, street entertainment, fair rides, rural craft demonstrations, maypole dancing and much more.
Get together with family and friends and celebrate Spring in the Park in Warminster on Sunday 6 May. At this action-packed event, you can expect Morris and maypole dancers, craft stalls, a beer tent and barbecues!
For automotive enthusiasts there’s May Day Madness Race Day at Castle Combe Circuit and Bowood’s Classic Car and Motorcycle show on Sunday 6 May.
Take part in archery, welly wanging, wheelbarrow races and a farmyard fancy dress competition at the Country Fayre at Woolley Grange on Monday 7 May.
Go in search of signs of spring with a migration watch nature walk with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, or take part in a 'New Beginnings' pagan workshop at Avebury Stone Circle with Elements of Avebury.
Salisbury Live runs from 4 May-1 June with live music over five weekends and up to 100 acts in 20 venues across the city!
As well as its famous Safari Park residents Longleat will be welcoming some eccentric newcomers in the shape of their Pop-up Pandas art installation, each panda has been hand-crafted and painted and assembled in a trail across the Estate.
Visit Crofton Beam Engines near Marlborough to see the engines 'in steam' over the early and late May Bank Holiday weekends.
There are loads of amazing wildlife and animal experiences on offer across the county. Feed farm animals at Cholderton Charlie’s Farm and spot rare birds at Langford Lakes nature reserve.
Spring weather being wonderfully unpredictable there are also plenty of events and activities which won’t be affected by rain.
VisitWiltshire has put together a whole section on inspiring suggestions for rainy day entertainment ranging from Escape Rooms to some of the finest museums in the country including the Wiltshire Museum in Devizes and the Atwell-Wilson Motor Museum near Calne.
They may be Bank Holidays but that definitely doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in some serious retail therapy. Visit McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Swindon for excellent deals, or take a trip to Salisbury for some unique independent shops including Regent Tailoring, Just Jane, Chas H Baker and many more.
With half term falling in the last week of May too, why not take a short break to Wiltshire? Check out Grasmere House Hotel, Salisbury who are offering a spring 2-night package with afternoon tea, dinner, bed and breakfast for only £115.50 per room per night. Or The Old Post Office Cottage, Corsham, offering a spring 3-night break from £200 per room per night.
