In Wiltshire, schools will be breaking up from 8-23 April for the Easter holidays this year. Here, we’ve put together a handy guide to some of the family-friendly things you can do over the Easter holidays in Wiltshire.
1. Catch the official start to the performance car season at Castle Combe Circuit
With non-stop track action, drifting demos and passenger rides, petrol-heads will love the Spring Action Day at Castle Combe Circuit on 8 April.
2. Sample some treats at an Easter chocolate tasting workshop
Children both big and small will enjoy the chance to taste chocolate from around the world at Goodfayre, in Cross Keys Arcade, Salisbury.
3. Join in with an Easter Egg Hunt
Why not take part in one of the Easter Egg Hunts that will be happening around the county including the National Trust properties of Stourhead and Mompesson House as well as Bowood House & Gardens and Salisbury Escape Rooms. Find more details on our Easter page.
5. Cheer on the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race
This annual canoe race takes place over Easter weekend and is a popular event to support in Devizes. See canoeists begin the gruelling journey along the Kennet & Avon Canal towards London. This year look out for children’s TV star Steve Backshall who’s taking part!
5. Find clues hidden around Lydiard Park
Great family fun, head to Lydiard Park on Easter Sunday and find clues hidden around the parkland.
6. Meet some of the new arrivals at one of our farms
Over 400 lambs are expected to be born between 22 March-9 April at Roves Farm and keep a look out for new arrivals at Cholderton Charlie’s Farm as well. Not only can you meet these new arrivals but there’s plenty of other family fun and activities to get involved with.
7. Hop aboard the Easter Egg-spress
Meet the Easter Bunny as he travels aboard the Swindon & Cricklade Railway’s Easter Egg-spress. Children will each receive a chocolate egg.
8. Join the White Rabbit on the Larmer Tree Easter Trail
On Easter Monday, visit the Larmer Tree and take part in the Easter trail around these picturesque gardens.
9. Spot the Marvellous Monsters at Longleat
Look out for the swarm of colossal bugs that will be on display around Longleat’s grounds! Great for anyone who’s into creepy crawlies.
10. Get crafting at one of our museums
Trowbridge Museum will be running various craft activities over the Easter holidays for young children including making delicate daffodils and woolly lambs!
Wiltshire Museum in Devizes will be offering textiles and felt-making activities suitable for ages 11 and under on 19 April and The Salisbury Museum will be giving you the chance to help make a giant mosaic for Easter followed by storytelling and an Easter archaeology trail on 15 April.
11. Dare to meet some dinosaurs
Experience the dangers and delights of Dinosaur World in the interactive show taking place at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre on 19-20 April. Suitable for ages 3+.
