Stonehenge & Avebury

Wiltshire is proud to be the home of Stonehenge and Avebury which form part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and our mystical landscape.

Take a tour of Stonehenge and discover more about the neolithic man and the landscape they shaped. At Avebury, walk amongst the stones, visit the Alexander Keiller Museum to find out about the arcaeological excavations Keiller did in the 1930s and visit the Avebury Manor and Garden, nearby West Kennet Long Barrow.

Guided tours of Stonehenge and Avebury

Many of our local guiding companies will take you on tours of Stonehenge and/or Avebury and are experts in the local history and archaeology of the area. Look out for the Stonehenge Landscape walks that are offered throughout the year by the National Trust too.

How to get to Stonehenge and Avebury

If you are travelling by car then download our map of Wiltshire here which shows both sites. If you are planning to come to Stonehenge by public transport then the Stonehenge Tour Bus is a handy option (and great for seeing Old Sarum too). For details of local buses visit Transport Direct where you'll find up-to-date information on timetables and routings.
