About
Salisbury Musical Society sing J.S. Bach's monumental Mass in B Minor in the magnificent setting of Salisbury Cathedral. This work was completed in 1749, the year before Bach's death, when the composer was at the height of his musical powers, and the result is one of the most exhilarating and finest choral works for any choir to sing.
Florilegium, the outstanding international period instrument ensemble, will accompany SMS. Also singing will be the superb Salisbury Cathedral Choir.
The choir is conducted by the Cathedral's Director of Music, David Halls.
The professional soloists include:
Ana Fernandez — soprano
Jessica Cale — soprano
Hugh Cutting — countertenor
Ben Johnson — tenor
This concert is the climax of Salisbury Musical Society's centenary year.
