By rail

There are regular services to London, Bath and Portsmouth and Salisbury is also easily accessible by rail from Exeter, Southampton, Bristol, and Cardiff - simply visit the National Rail Enquiries website or call 08457 484950 for train times and fares. Train tickets can be bought either from the railway station itself or, in advance, from Salisbury Tourist Information Centre. Rail services to Salisbury are operated by South West Trains or First Great Western. A community rail partnership promotes the railway line linking Salisbury and Romsey, Southampton Airport and Southampton, and in addition to Salisbury railway station, a station at Tisbury gives access to the area to the west of the district with opportunities for walking and cycling in rural south Wiltshire and to attractions such as nearby Old Wardour Castle. Other stations nearby at Warminster and Gillingham are a short taxi drive from attractions such as Longleat and Stourhead.

By bus and coach


National Express CoachThere are regular coach services into Salisbury from London, Heathrow, Gatwick, Bath, Bristol and the Midlands. The Wilts & Dorset Bus Company offers local bus services to many places of interest in and around Salisbury. Many useful leaflets and timetables can be found at the Bus Station on Endless Street in Salisbury and at Tourist Information Centres.

By road


Park and Ride SalisburyLondon is approximately 2 hours drive away from Salisbury; the Channel ports of Portsmouth, Southampton and Poole are within 50 minutes, Bath is about an hour away and Dover will take you about three hours. Exeter and the West Country can be reached within two hours, as can the Midlands. And parking in Salisbury is now easier than ever with four Park and Ride sites. By air


Southampton Airport (photo:BAA)Heathrow airport is approximately 90 minutes away; Gatwick two hours. Southampton and Bournemouth, each less than an hour away, have flights from around the UK and Europe; while Exeter, Bristol and Birmingham airports are also within easy reach.

By sea


Condor FerryFrom the Continent, car ferries operate from Caen, Cherbourg, Le Havre, St Malo and Bilbao to either Portsmouth or Poole, which are within an easy hour's drive of Salisbury. Southampton cruise ship terminal is less than an hour from Salisbury.
