Map of Whitchurch Silk Mill at 1:10000 Scale View

Type: Water Mill

Whitchurch Silk Mill is a picturesque watermill that has been weaving silk since 1817. It is the oldest working silk museum in Britain working in its original building; keeping alive silk weaving skills on Victorian machinery. The Mill weaves silk for the stage and screen, the fashion world and interiors.

There is a varied programme of exhibitions, adults’ and children’s activities – see the website for more information. Enjoy the 19th century waterwheel, riverside garden, the shop selling silk gifts and the tearoom with a view. Picnickers are welcomed. Round off your visit with a go at hand weaving. Thirty one miles east of Salisbury on the A34. Midway between Newbury and Winchester.
