Wiltshire Food and drink award re-launch

VisitWiltshire yesterday re-launched their food and drink awards schemes which recognise providers who use only the finest local and seasonal produce in their catering.
The awards not only provide businesses with a goal to aim towards but also inform visitors and locals as to which are the county’s best places to enjoy food and drink.
The easily recognisable Food & Drink Award logos will be displayed by all recipients meaning diners can easily identify which businesses have achieved the status. The logos also act as a way for recipients to show off their status as one of the best restaurants, pubs, B&Bs or self-catering providers in the county.
The scheme was formally re-launched at the VisitWiltshire Tourism Forum in Devizes where chef Clive Jackson-Wilding provided recipes and ideas of how to use local produce to create delicious breakfast recipes such as skillet mushrooms, potato and cheddar muffins and apple, cinnamon and oatmeal rock cakes.
Alun Williams, Head of Partnership for VisitWiltshire said: “We decided to re-launch the scheme and encourage our members to become excited about local produce. Wiltshire is well-known for great local food from our fantastic ham and sausages through to our wines and ciders. This is something that needs to be celebrated and with these awards it means that visitors can make clear and informed decisions when choosing where to stay and where to eat. By choosing to stay and dine in one of the award winning businesses they not only are sure to enjoy some of the UK’s best food but they are also supporting local business.”
