Heritage Cycle Tours is now open for business, offering all-inclusive guided cycle tours through the Wiltshire countryside.
A local, family-run company, Heritage Cycle Tours offers itineraries perfect both for visitors to the region and for locals interested in discovering more of the area. The tours are suitable for all abilities, with options including the classic Heritage four-day tour (which runs from Tuesday to Friday every week) and individual single-day tours. The tours are based in the countryside surrounding Salisbury and Marlborough, and cover an average distance of 25 miles each day.
“We've set up Heritage Cycle Tours because we love cycling in this beautiful area and want to be able to share that passion with as many people as possible,” explained Dave Evans, a trained cycle mechanic who runs the company with his wife, Lynda.
“We've carefully devised quiet routes that take in the best of the local area, so whether people are interested in historic sites like Stonehenge or Old Sarum, charming villages or simply want to experience beautiful countryside at your own pace, Heritage Cycle Tours offer the ideal rural holiday experience.”
All equipment is provided, including bikes, pannier bags for personal belongings, safety equipment, locks and waterproof capes. Guests are asked to buy their own lunches, with options including picnics and traditional English pub food, while the four-day tour also includes breakfast, dinner and accommodation at two high-quality hotels including The Red Lion in Salisbury (www.the-redlion.co.uk).
“We want to make sure our guests have a fantastic experience, which means a lot of great cycling, but also means having the opportunity to relax and explore places like Salisbury, Marlborough and Avebury,” said Lynda Evans.
“We've designed the routes to make sure there's no need to rush. People will have time to see everything they're interested in – from the historical sites on the rides to the city centre shops. And we've chosen hotels where we know people will get great service and a great night's sleep.”
Prices for the tours start at £590 for the four-day tour (including hotel accommodation, breakfast and dinner) and £45 for the single-day tours. Both groups and individuals are welcome, and Dave and Lynda are happy to accommodate requests for personalised tours when practical.
“It's amazing how different the world looks on two wheels,” said Dave. “We've been on test rides with people who've lived here for years, who couldn't believe how much they discovered during the course of a ride. We can't wait to start sharing that experience with people from around the globe.”
