Grading Information

It is the Visit Wiltshire Tourism Partnership's policy to promote only accommodation which has been inspected and graded by Visit Britain or the AA.

Visit Britain and the AA grade establishments offering accommodation under a set of common quality standards agreed by the AA and the UK tourist authorities: VisitBritain, VisitScotland and Wales Tourist Board. The aim is to make accommodation standards easy to understand and to give you confidence that establishments meet the standard you expect. So you can book your accommodation with the assurance that it will always be of the quality required by the grading it displays. The gradings are renewed annually so you can be confident that the quality will be maintained.

These descriptions apply to all types of accommodation and to both stars and diamonds. Use them as a general guide to what you can expect.

1 star or diamond: Simple, practical, no frills.
2 star or diamond: Well presented and well run.
3 star or diamond: Good level of quality and comfort.
4 star or diamond: Excellent standard throughout.
5 star or diamond: Exceptional with a degree of luxury.

Note: Diamonds only apply to Guest Accommodation and are gradually being replaced by stars during 2007.
