Downton
Downton is a large ancient village situated 6 miles south of Salisbury, and just outside the New Forest National Park with thriving pubs, cafes, and shops. The village has riverside walks, old mills reflecting its industrial past, and parks include The Moot. The Moot is a landscaped garden by the river Avon created in the early 18th century out of the ruins of a substantial 12th century earthwork castle. The village is also well known for its fishing, its two award winning local breweries, award winning distillery and as a centre for exploring the River Avon, New Forest and Cranborne Chase.
Tisbury
Steeped in over 2,000 years of history, Tisbury is the largest village in Wiltshire's Nadder Valley, located in the West Wiltshire Downs National Landscape. St John's 12-Centry parish church is in the centre, boasting an ancient Yew Tree in its churchyard, which is still flourishing after 4,000 years! At the edge of the village is the Grade 1 Listed thatched Tithe Barn, arguably the largest Tithe Barn in Englane.
Wilton
Wilton is the ancient capital of Wessex, a traditional Wiltshire market town 3 miles west of Salisbury with a history spanning more than 2,000 years. With free parking, visitors have easy access to a wide range of traditional family-owned shops, pubs, cafes and more! A short walk from the Market Square and the Old St Mary’s Church Ruin is the famous Italianate Church and a delightful river walk along the Wylye. Wilton Shopping Village can also be explored, and Wilton House can be found just next door, a recognisable landmark from the recent Bridgerton series!
