Romantic Salisbury

Rekindle your romance on a visit to Salisbury. Let us help you plan your romantic trip away to this historic city…

Romantic places to visit in and around Salisbury

Standing impressively over the city, Salisbury Cathedral is a great spot to head to. Stroll through the Cathedral Close and admire the architecture, picnic on the lawn or book on to a Tower Tour for some spectacular views of the city.

Also within the Cathedral Close you’ll find Mompesson House, a National Trust property with pretty courtyard garden. The House was also used in the filming of Sense and Sensibility.

Close by is Arundells, with its riverside garden and fantastic views over to the Cathedral.

On the outskirts of the city, you’ll find Old Sarum, an Iron Age hillfort with the ruins of the old city of Salisbury. Sitting on the edge of the countryside, there are some enjoyable walks to be taken from here too.

Approximately 10 miles from the city, in the New Forest National Park, you'll find the romantically-named village of Lover (pronounced Low-ver) which was a popular place for ever-romantics to visit in the lead up to Valentine's Day.

Romantic things to do

Wander along the Town Path at dusk, visit Stonehenge on an Inner Circle Tour or enjoy a spa treatment. Enjoy a romantic meal out at one of our pubs and restaurants or head to Salisbury Playhouse or City Hall for some evening entertainment.

Use Salisbury as a base for exploring the wider area with the National Trust gardens of Stourhead, Longleat and the New Forest National Park a short drive away.

Relax by booking a romantic stay

With a lot to see and do in and around Salisbury why not make a break of it?

Look out for rooms with Cathedral views, hotels with riverside gardens and cosy cottages to hire in nearby villages. Keep an eye on our special offers for last minute breaks, seasonal offers and much more.
