About
Wilton is the ancient capital of Wessex, a traditional Wiltshire market town three miles west of Salisbury with a history spanning more than 2,000 years.
The town gave its name not only to Wiltshire but also to the UK’s famous Wilton Carpets, which are still made here today.
Market day is on Thursday and a Country Market is held on Fridays. With free parking, you have easy access to the wide range of traditional family-owned shops, pubs, cafes and other services. A short walk from the Market Square and the Old St Mary’s Church Ruin is the famous Italianate Church and a delightful river walk along the Wylye. Wilton House and the Wilton Shopping Village can also be explored. Wilton holds its annual carnival in July.
