Entertainment & Nightlife in Salisbury

Salisbury isn’t just a place to visit in the day, we’ve plenty to entertain you at night-time too.

Evening entertainment in Salisbury

For comedy and performances head to City Hall, Salisbury’s largest live entertainment venue. There is jam-packed programme of events with big names in comedy such as Jimmy Carr and Al Murray as well as show-stopping shows including musical theatre, ballet and concerts.

Alongside City Hall, sits Salisbury Playhouse. The Playhouse’s varied programme includes plays, musicals, one night events and an annual traditional pantomime. Look out for nearby restaurants that offer pre-theatre dining to help you make the most of your evening out.

Just a short walk from the city centre and you’ll find Salisbury Arts Centre. Based in a beautiful converted church, the arts centre offers a wide range of thought-provoking exhibitions, performances and workshops plus regular comedy evenings.

All three venues are used for the annual Salisbury International Arts Festival which brings with it concerts, theatre, talks, dance and much more.

If you want to catch up on the latest blockbusters then a visit to the Odeon cinema on New Canal is a must too. Plus don’t forget to check out the fantastic historic interior and exterior of this building.

Salisbury Cathedral regularly holds concerts and recitals in the evenings. In the lead up to Christmas, the Advent Procession (from Darkness to Light) and the Carol Concerts are popular events on the calendar. Take a look at our events listings for what’s coming up when you plan on visiting.

Nightlife in Salisbury

Salisbury boasts many pubs, restaurants and bars and there’s plenty of choice for after work activities or for visitors to the city. Many of our pubs are historic with quirky features such as beamed ceilings and open fireplaces and you even have places such as the Haunch of Venison with tales of card cheats from days gone by. So whether you prefer to sip on a cocktail or a glass of vino, there is a wide variety of places to try. Just take a look at our food and drink listings for further details.

The Chapel is Salisbury’s main nightclub and club nights take place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. The club hosts many events including DJs. Some of the pubs in the city centre have late licenses on the weekends including the Kings Head Inn (Wetherspoon pub) and the Cathedral Hotel.

Combine your night out with a place to stay

If you want to be a part of all the action then why not consider staying in the city centre? You will find several places to stay including hotels and bed and breakfasts. Take a look at our places to stay today and find your perfect way to end the night.
