Where do we begin? We may be biased but we do have some great views here in Wiltshire! Come for sunrise or sunset, enjoy our big skies and take in some of our timeless wonders. In no particular order, here are our top views of Wiltshire:
Heaven’s Gate
Gaze across to Longleat House from Heaven’s Gate. You’ll also find sculptures here and many a photographer trying to capture the perfect moment.
Salisbury Cathedral across the water meadows
Walk out along Salisbury’s Town Path from Queen Elizabeth Gardens to Harnham and you will be able to see views of Salisbury Cathedral across the water meadows and familiar scenes of
Constable’s famous paintings.
Hackpen Hill
See one of Wiltshire’s White Horses on Hackpen Hill and enjoy spectacular views from the Ridgeway across the North Wessex Downs.
Castle Combe
Used for several film locations, Castle Combe often tops the polls for prettiest village in the UK. Stand at the bottom of the village by the old bridge for great views of this Cotswold village.
Caen Hill Locks
Whether you approach Caen Hill from Devizes or Rowde, you’ll be greeted by an interesting view of the flight of locks and the countryside. Spend time watching the narrow boats journey up and down the canal and enjoy walking along the tow path.
Cherhill White Horse
Just off the A4 near Calne, you’ll find the Cherhill White Horse which sits along with the Lansdowne monument.
Langford Lakes Nature Reserve
Located in the pretty Wylye valley, Langford Lakes Nature Reserve is home to three lakes and several bird hides. Look out across the lakes at the wildlife and take in the lovely vistas of this tranquil location.
Woodford Valley
The Woodford Valley lies between Amesbury and Salisbury and is home to villages with thatched cottages, pretty gardens and some lovely walks. It’s hard to pick a particular point offering the best view as as you travel along this route you’ll be greeted with glimpses of our timeless landscape.
Bowden Hill
As you approach Lacock village from Sandy Lane you’ll pass along Bowden Hill. With an elevated position you’ll be able to see for miles.
Cley Hill
Take a walk up to the top of Cley Hill on the outskirts of Warminster and take in the breath-taking views across west Wiltshire.
