Make Time for Wiltshire this Mother's Day
Mother’s Day – Sunday 31 March 2019 - is the perfect opportunity to say thank you to the super mum in your life and Wiltshire has something special to make the celebrations truly memorable.
Whether its relaxing chill-out experiences like spa breaks, delicious meals and cookery courses or high adrenaline thrills like sky-diving, 4x4 off-road driving tours or race track days VisitWiltshire has put together a packed programme of unique ways to say ‘thank you mum’.
There are plenty of amazing locations for a spa break in Wiltshire including the five star Cotswolds hotels at Lucknam Park near Chippenham and Whatley Manor with its Aquarias Spa near Malmesbury.

Near to Lacock there’s Beechfield House which has onsite Pure Fiji beauty treatments including massage, aromatherapy and more. On the outskirts of Bradford on Avon you’ll find The Spa at Woolley Grange Hotel which is family-friendly, even offering treatments suitable for younger skin.
In Salisbury, you can find the Lime Tree Spa at the Milford Hall Hotel.
If your mum fancies herself as the next Nigella Lawson or Mary Berry in the making then why not book her into one of Wiltshire’s renowned cookery schools.
From beginners’ sessions on bread making through to Michelin star dining at home, there is a wide selection of courses on offer at Vaughan’s Cookery School in Devizes, Waitrose Cookery School in Salisbury, Lucknam Park Hotel Cookery School in Colerne, near Chippenham and The Farm Cookery School at Bromham.
For those who prefer the idea of others doing the cooking there’s loads of great restaurants, cafés and eateries to indulge yourselves with delicious Mother’s Day treats.
At Melksham Market Place there’s a Musical Afternoon Tea taking place on the Sunday from 1.30pm-4pm. Treat mum to a delicious Afternoon Tea accompanied by Classical Crossover Group Bel Canto as they perform enchanting arias, musical theatre masterpieces and popular ballads.
In the centre of Marlborough you'll find our own Wiltshire Rick Stein Restaurant. Situated in an attractive Grade II Listed building, it has been renovated to create a 100 seat restaurant
Many hotels have great on site restaurants such as the River's Edge Restaurant at the Legacy Rose and Crown Hotel in Salisbury, situated on the waterfront with beautiful views of Salisbury Cathedral. Or the Milano a comfortable, relaxed Italian restaurant at the Milford Hall Hotel in Salisbury.
The Greenhouse in Wadswick Green, just outside Corsham is a smart, stylish and relaxed all day café bar and dining destination at the heart of the village.
Situated in the old town of Mere, in Norwood Park, is the Visit Hillbrush Restaurant - whether it's a relaxing break for brunch or lunch, afternoon tea or a quick 'grab and go' meal before you set off on the road again.
It may be known as Mothers’ Ruin but the award-winning Bombay Sapphire Distillery at Laverstoke Mill is guaranteed to put a smile on mum’s face; particularly if she’s not driving!
Watch the production of gin behind the scenes in the Dakin Still House, and uncover the secrets of Bombay Sapphire’s unique vapour-infusion distillation process. Discover your personal taste profile in the Dry Room, then use it to order a complimentary cocktail from the Mill Bar suited to your tastes.
For the more intrepid mothers there’s plenty of opportunities to experience some high-adrenaline adventures. Skydive Netheravon and GoSkydive in Old Sarum near Salisbury both offer the chance to take a leap of faith and enjoy a tandem skydive from more than 10,000ft.

Feel the need for speed with the Spring Action Day at Castle Combe Racing Circuit on 30 March or get behind the wheel yourself and test your driving abilities at Wessex Raceway Indoor Karting in Salisbury.
Try your stand-up paddle boarding prowess at Cotswold Water Park. Set in 40 square miles of countryside, this unique area has something for everyone – from high speed watersports, fantastic and varied birdwatching, excellent angling, off road cycling, inland beach and peaceful lakeside walks.
With spring very much in the air why not take a trip to Roves Farm Visitor Centre at Sevenhampton near Swindon with the chance to handle and cuddle newborn lambs, baby pygmy goats, calves and piglets.
