TOP 10 IDEAS FOR FATHER’S DAY IN WILTSHIRE
If you are stuck for ideas on what to get your dad this Father’s Day, VisitWiltshire have compiled a list below of top ten things you can do with your dad this Father’s Day in Wiltshire:
1. Travel back in time at The Domesday Pageant, Old Sarum
Travel back to 1086, following King William 1’s conquest of England at the Domesday Pageant, Old Sarum. See the ruined castle come alive with colourful characters, music from the Middle Ages and take a look inside the Scriptorium writing room. 2. Drive through Longleat Safari Park on this, their 50th Anniversary year
Celebrate 50 years of Longleat Safari Park being open on a visit this Father’s Day. Will your dad be brave enough to drive his car through Monkey Mayhem? Can he make his way through the Hedge Maze? Or perhaps you’d all enjoy a leisurely Jungle Cruise to spot the sea lions or get hands-on with tarantulas, snakes or even fluffy bunnies! Save up to 15% when you buy tickets online. 3. Take dad out for a good ole pub meal
Whether you fancy a country pub or a city centre pub sample some of our local ales and good ole pub grub with dad. The Barleycorn Inn, near Marlborough, promises a selection of well-kept cask ales, lagers, ciders, wines and spirits.
4. Sample local wines at a’Becketts
Make a trip to Wiltshire vineyard, a’Beckett’s (just south of Devizes) to sample the local wines and pick up a tipple for dad. Free admission.
5. Go cycling around Bradford on Avon
Hire a bike from Towpath Trail – just a short distance from the Kennet & Avon Canal and explore Bradford on Avon. Whether you fancy cycling along the towpath towards Devizes or a shorter route around the town there’s a lot of opportunity for burning off the calories.
6. Make a walk around Langford Lakes
Head to this nature reserve for some wildlife spotting with dad. Check out the bird hides and see the flora and fauna on offer here. Langford Lakes is managed by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and is free to visit.
7. Enjoy a UFO-themed Treasure Trail
Take up the challenge of a Spy Mission Treasure Trail in Warminster. The theme of this trail is Alien Portal Destruction – due to Warminster’s UFO connections. The trail is approximately three miles long and should take 2.5 hours to complete. Download the trail for only £6.99 for the whole family to enjoy.
8. Calling all transport lovers – take a trip to one of our museums
Whether it’s at Boscombe Down Aviation Collection at Old Sarum, Atwell-Wilson Motor Museum in Calne or STEAM – Museum of the Great Western Railway, there are lots of indoor activities on offer for dad over Father’s Day.
9. Crack the codes at Salisbury Escape Rooms
After being briefed by a detective, see if dad (and his trusted team) can solve the clues to make their way out of Salisbury Escape Rooms within an hour. A team of 6 people pay £60.
10. Book a tour of Ramsbury Brewery & Distillery
Whether dad’s tipple is real ale or perhaps he favours vodka, a tour of the Ramsbury Brewery factory is worth a visit. Only £12 for a brewery tour and advanced booking essential.

This features Millionaires Shortbread, Mini Doughnuts, Boozy Fruit Cake, Scotch Quails Egg, Mini Pork Pie, Rare Roast Beef and Horseradish Bruschetta and a Sausage roll with Branston Pickle and Pickled Onions. Dads can enjoy tea, coffee or a pint of beer to wash it down with. Only £21.95 per person. Pre-booking required as spaces are very limited.
Holiday Inn Salisbury - Stonehenge have superb summer rates from only £69 per room if you book before 31 May for stay dates from 1 June – 31 August 2016. On Sunday 19 June, dads can enjoy a delicious 3 course carvery lunch which includes a complimentary beer for dad and a chance to win tickets to the Superbikes Championship at Thruxton. Lunch is £17 adults, under 12s £8.50 and under 5s £5.
