Bath Tennis Club COMMUNITY TENNIS Cancer Awareness FUNDRAISER Event

About

Bath Tennis Club invites the local community to its COMMUNITY TENNIS Cancer Awareness FUNDRAISER on Sunday 13th September 2026.

An action-packed day offering a fantastic opportunity to experience the club's warm welcome, enjoy a day of tennis and appreciate active health whilst remembering absent and ailing friends.

This not-for-profit community amateur sports club, having recently lost two well-respected and popular members to cancer, seek to commemorate and celebrate their lives and generosity to the club. Daniel Money, 27, and Sarah Griffiths, 65, who both past to cancer in September 2025.

Grateful to their great contributions to the tennis community, Bath Tennis Club has teamed up with Dorothy House, the regional palliative care specialist, and national organisation, Cancer Research UK to raise funds for the hospice and charity. Price of Bath join them and will kindly to provide pink tennis balls to make this an all-out pink affair.

The FESTIVAL starts at noon, the event is open to all offering a chance for visitors to explore the club, meet members and take part in fun tennis activities with a presence by the two charities and short speeches and raffle prizes galore. Participate in a fun doubles tournament, junior sessions, drills, with tips and techniques, cardio, high tempo, pickleball, and NEW this year, walking tennis for the less mobile – all sessions are great fun.

The event is free with sign-up and there's a rolling BBQ (£7 per person) which starts at 2 pm. Visitors can also expect freshly-made PIMMS and home-made cakes. The bar will be open throughout the day, making it a perfect occasion for socialising with fellow tennis enthusiasts from across the city area.
Bath Tennis Club has been at the heart of Bath since 1880, offering opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy tennis. The club has recently invested £120,000 in upgrading its facilities, including four new hard courts, two Astro courts, and improved LED lighting. This open day is an opportunity to celebrate these improvements, encourage new members to join and remember.

Andrew Kettle, club General Manager said: "Although death rates from cancer are falling, around 169,000 people die from cancer in the UK each year making it the country's biggest cause of mortality. The good news is that these rates are set to fall by 2030 and treatments are improving all the time, yet everyone knows someone who has been affected by this awful condition. Whilst the theme is serious, the day will be special and one of remembrance and celebration as both Daniel and Sarah were highly positive people, enjoyed their tennis and did much for others and the tennis community. We are proud to offer a vibrant, inclusive space where people can come together through tennis and social events. Our COMMUNITY TENNIS Cancer Awareness FUNDRAISER is another fantastic way to showcase the club's approach to what a supportive community is all about".
Whether you're an elite, experienced or intermediate player, improver or novice, or simply like volunteering, everyone is welcome. Come along, have fun, and discover why Bath Tennis Club is more than just a place to play – it's a community and social hub for tennis enthusiasts.

Guide Prices

The day is FREE to attend and do wear pink with donations for Dorothy House and Cancer Research being welcomed.
