About
The Women's Walk is about celebrating the extraordinary care women give — as daughters, sisters, partners, friends, carers and professionals — and standing in solidarity with everyone facing the end of life. It's about walking with intention, meaning and love, for the people who have shaped lives. It is about raising vital funds to help care for people that need Dorothy House's support, whether that's end of life care or bereavement support.
Starting and ending in Henrietta Park in central Bath at 3pm on 4 July 2026, the event offers two inclusive walking routes, enabling people of all ages and abilities to take part:
Short route (5km) – a family-friendly and accessible loop.
Long route (12km) – a more challenging and scenic walk.
The walk will end with a shared celebration — a moment to pause, reflect and connect. The evening will include a free drink and delicious hot food waiting for participants at the finish line. There will be powerful, uplifting female speakers sharing stories of care, courage and connection. Participants can enjoy music, warmth and a real sense of community solidarity and an atmosphere that's emotional and moving, but also full of joy and celebration.
We have an amazing line-up of inspirational female speakers:
Cara, Dorothy House patient
Sophie Broadfield, CEO of B&NES Council
Susan Hamilton, CEO of St Peters Hospice
Sarah Armit – Dorothy House, Senior Sister
Tickets for the Women's Walk: United in Care are now on sale, with early bird entry at £20, while standard entry is £25.
When the responsibility of caring falls on to someone's shoulders, Dorothy House must be there early, consistently, and with compassion.
£42 could fund a full hour of care on our Inpatient Unit for a patient receiving essential care, symptom control and pain relief.
£75 could fund an expert counsellor to run a support group session for young adults with a life-limiting illness, helping them feel less alone.
£100 could fund 4 hours of care, delivered at a patient's home, during the night, by a compassionate, skilled and experienced Hospice at Home carer.
At a time where Dorothy House only receives 20% of its funding from the government, we need community support now more than ever.
Funds raised will help Dorothy House expand specialist hospice services, easing carer strain and ensuring more families can access expert, compassionate support when they need it most.
For many women, caring is not a choice, but a responsibility shaped by love, circumstance and social expectation. Every step taken in the Women's Walk: United in Care is a step towards greater understanding, recognition and equity.
You are not alone.
We are walking beside you.
Dorothy House is with you, every step of the way.
