Activities in Wiltshire

If you love to keep busy on holiday or just fancy a day out with a difference then let us guide you to some of the activities on offer in Wiltshire.

Outdoor activities

In Wiltshire you feel close to the land and the sky. The countryside alters with the changing seasons, connecting you not just to nature but to time itself. Sit on the downs at sunrise or sunset and see how the light changes the textures of the hills, then think of our ancestors admiring the same spectacle down the centuries.

To complement our countryside here in Wiltshire we have ample opportunities for outdoor activities including:

  • Walking
  • Cycling
  • Horse riding
  • Golf
  • Fishing

For a county that’s land-locked, you may be surprised to hear that we also offer water activities from boating, kayaking and even water sports.

Want to get your pulse-racing? Then look out for our high adrenalin activities, driving experiences and adventure activities.

Indoor activities

Improve your baking skills or pick up new culinary tips on a visit to one of our cookery schools. Treat yourself to our tasting experiences in and around the county from Bombay Sapphire Distillery, to Coffee Gems. Enjoy some relaxation time on a trip to one of our spa hotels.

Family activities

There are lots of free leisure activities that you can do with your family in Wiltshire from walking through to cycling. You might also want to try to solve clues on a Treasure Trail – with trails available for most of the Wiltshire towns, this is a fun way to discover some of our county’s hidden gems too.

See if your family can make it out of either Live Escape Slaisbury or Salisbury Escape Rooms by using analytical skills and solving various puzzles. Escape in under an hour and you will even be featured on their ‘hall of fame’.

Feed giraffes and lorikeets at Longleat and see if you can make your way to the heart of Longleat’s maze.

If it’s rainy, don’t let that stop you, read more about what you can do with our rainy days ideas.
