About
Bradford-on-Avon is welcoming a new children's book festival this autumn - BoA Bookfest. In October, award-winning children's and YA authors will be descending on the town to host creative workshops for the community's young people ... and it's completely free!
Children's authors including Hana Tooke (Skulkmoor, The Unadoptables), Clare Harlow (the Tidemagic series), Stewart Foster (Bubble Boy, Pieces of Us) Anika Hussain (This is How You Fall in Love, Desi Girl Speaking) Fleur Hitchcock (Murder at Christmas) and Emily Randall-Jones (The Witchstone Ghosts, The Scream of the Whistle) will be leading workshops and signing books at Bradford on Avon Library on Saturday October 25 2025. Also running on the day are witchy storytelling sessions for younger readers, and sensory storytelling workshop Connect, Play, Create for pre-schoolers.
Festival founders say: "This is a collaboration between local authors, the library and schools in the BoA area to promote a life-long love of reading for pleasure. We'll be holding workshops and interactive activities, crafts, talks and author signings, specifically designed to engender a love and enthusiasm for reading. These aims would be fully accessible and inclusive to all, as it's absolutely free. Ultimately, we envisage that this will become an annual event, synonymous with the local area."
As part of the Bookfest children and young people are invited to enter a book themed competition, that will run throughout half term. A pack containing workshop details, book buying information and competition entry forms are available at the library.
For more information and to book - spaces are free but limited to the the library's capacity - please call Bradford-on-Avon Library on 01225 863280 or pop in to speak to a member of staff.
