A giant of the musical baroque period, Henry Purcell's is firmly established as one of England's finest composers and his music has become a staple of the national canon. In this celebration of this great musician's output, WMC's Orchestra in Residence Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment join forces with vocal soloists from their Rising Stars of the Enlightenment programme to perform music from a selection of Purcell's most enduring scores. From instrumental overtures bristling with dramatic tension to joyful songs of celebration from is opera masterworks, this musical feast has something for everyone.
