About

The Beckford Arms is a traditionally delightful 18th country inn located on the edge of the rolling parkland of the Fonthill Estate in south Wiltshire just off the A303 - only twenty minutes from Stonehenge or Salisbury and under two hours from London by car or train.

There are eight bedrooms set within the pub and all have simple yet stylish, comforting interiors. On the bed, there's Siberian goose down bedding with crisp Egyptian cotton sheets. In the bathrooms, you will find our own locally made all-natural Bramley Products. We also have three two luxurious lodges and our newest lodge addition – The Arch at Fonthill - a short stroll away, cradled in the stunning Fonthill Estate.

The Beckford has all the comforts of a great hotel but at pub prices.

Our relaxed pub is the perfect environment for long lunches, sumptuous suppers and the chance to refuel after a day exploring the British countryside. Chef Johnny Sutclffe and his talented team are committed to cooking the abundance of seasonal produce surrounding The Beckford. Meat and game from local farms, fish from the Cornwall coast and fresh leaves picked just a few steps away in The Beckford kitchen garden. The bar is also kept well-stocked with delicious snacks that are available throughout the day, the perfect post-walk fuel.

A large family Sunday lunch (13 of us) at the Beckford Arms was superb. Service from the young waiting staff was faultless and the food was excellent. Well done and thank you! I'm not sure why... Read full review

The Arch at the Beckford Arms - A cosy Grade 1 bolt hole if ever there was one!

The Arch is half of the Gateway to the Fonthill Estate, spread over three floors. It's a two bedroom appartment, sent in the idyllic Fonthill Estate, where sympathetic rennovation and decoration... Read full review

Sadly not a roast with the most…beef

      Sunday, 23rd March 2025
Really great location, attentive service and buzz about the pub, massively let down by the incredibly stingy portion of roast beef. Only one small slice per plate! It was more like a child’s portion... Read full review
