About
Planted on flint-rich soils in the Wiltshire countryside, Liba is an organic, biodynamic vineyard focused on working in balance with the land to produce beautiful grapes and delicious wines.
Liba was founded on the idea of balance, so we chose to manage the vineyard organically and biodynamically, working with the land, not against it. To grow high-quality grapes without chemicals, we planted disease-resistant hybrid varieties.
In May 2024 we hand planted planted nearly four thousand vines across a 3-acre field. We chose four different varieties Cabaret Noir, Sauvignac, Calardis Blanc, and Solaris. These are disease-resistant hybrids that are well suited to our cooler, damper climate and will allow us to create a full spectrum of wines from pink fizz to still reds.
In early December 2024, an opportunity arose that was too good to pass up. Despite it being just two weeks after the birth of our second child and in the middle of a “red-warning” storm, we ventured down to Southampton in a rented lorry to purchase a full set of pre-loved winery equipment. And whilst we don’t have any grapes just yet to make our own wine from, we’re heading back to school to learn how to make the best wine we possibly can from our first vintage in a couple of years. We can’t wait to share it with you!
We are currently also in Demeter conversion (to be certified as organic and biodynamic) and will hopefully have finished this process in time for our first bottles.
