About

Salisbury Chamber Music Club is proud to launch its 2026-27 season with a concert by renowned flautist Dr Lis Lewis and accompanist on piano Karen Kingsley, on Saturday 26th September. The concert will take place at 7.30 pm at the Salisbury United Reformed Church on Fisherton Street.

The evening features two highly accomplished professional artists: flute-player Dr Lis Lewis and pianist Karen Kingsley. Both performers are alumni of the prestigious Royal Academy of Music and will bring an extraordinary depth of orchestral, solo, and chamber music experience to their Salisbury appearance.

A diverse and beautifully curated programme will bridge classical elegance and modern energy. The first half features French masterpieces, including the little-known Jules Mouquet's evocative Sonata 'La flute de pan', Fauré's brilliant 6th Nocturne for solo piano, and Poulenc's deeply expressive Sonata for flute and piano, alongside Harty's lyrical 'In Ireland'. Following the interval, the duo will perform Matyas Seiber's arrangements of Bach's Suite in B minor, a lively selection of songs from Leonard Bernstein's iconic 'West Side Story', and close with Godard's charming 'Suite de Trois Morceaux'.

Dr Lis Lewis, who recently completed her PhD at Goldsmiths College, University of London, has performed in all major London venues and freelanced with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Karen Kingsley is an exceptionally busy concerto soloist and chamber musician who has performed extensively across the UK and internationally.

Keen attendees of the Chamber Music Club should be aware that purchasing a season ticket at this concert will enable access to all the concerts at a bargain price, including at least one other performance by current professionals.
