About

The Farley Music Festival is pleased to present three young rising star pianists at the Medieval Hall in Salisbury Cathedral Close on Saturday 26th October, 2024, with concerts lasting one hour at 11.30 a.m., 2.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. Come to them all and use the breaks to take advantage of the many places to eat and drink in and near The Close!

Lily Petrova - First concert starting at 11.30am for approx. 60 minutes.

Lily was born in Inverness and has performed in venues across the UK including Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, St Martin's in the Field, St James Piccadilly and Royal Overseas League. Her playing has garnered several awards including 3rd prize at the Pietro Argento Competition in Italy.

Lily started playing the piano when she was 5, and has studied with Tatiana Sarkissova both at the Purcell School and the Royal Academy of music

She is a founder of the Muse and Fashion Collective- a collective created with the aim of bridging the gap between classical music and the different art forms. – and also had a key role in the founding of the Forgotten Melodies Society, performing at the opening concert at the Razumovsky Trust featuring the music of Nikolai Medtner.

Lily's programme will include extracts from Prokofiev's charming Romeo and Juliet ballet, Shumann – Fantasie in C major, Op. 17  and Bartok – Sonata.

Nikita Demidenko - Second concert starting at 2.30pm for approx. 60 minutes
Nikita is a musician, whose interest lies in transforming the messages hidden in the notes on the page into a tale or a story that can not only be told by the voice of piano, but also be heard as the speech of composer himself.  He was awarded a full scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music and has been involved in many interesting projects there, even as poet as well as pianist, writing epigraphs for Schumann's Albumblatter op.124.

Nikita is the winner of numerous international competitions, including 'Open Spain' and 'Golden Piano Talents', where he also received a special award 'Most Promising Pianist 2022'. Nikita is the founder of the Forgotten Melodies Society, which aims to provide a platform for students of London conservatories and encourage the performance of rarely played music, holding. Nikita holds monthly concerts at Annunciation Church Marble Arch. The opening concert of the Forgotten Melodies Society was dedicated to music of Nikolai Medtner and Nikita's programme will feature Medtner's monumental 'Night Wind Sonata', as well as works by Liszt, including Liebestraüm No. 3 and Schumann.

Sejin Yoon - Third concert starting at 6.o0pm for 60 approx minutes

Sejin made her solo recital and concerto debut with the Gwacheon Symphony Orchestra in 2013 at the age of 9. At the age of 12 she began studying at Wells Cathedral School and was one of the five keyboard finalists of the BBC Young Musician 2020. Sejin is currently an ABRSM scholar at the Royal Academy of music where her teacher is Ian Fountain.

Sejin was the guest soloist at the Cayman Arts Festival in April 2022 and she was selected by the RAM to take part in The Sir Elton John Global Exchange Programme where she joined The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Besides her solo playing, Sejin hugely enjoys chamber music, and is a founding member of the Lisson Trio. Her recent engagements include performances at the Purcell Room in South Bank Centre and Wigmore Hall.

Her intelligent approach to playing is reflected in her choice of programme which includes Beethoven's sublime Sonata in A major Op.101, as well as works by Chopin and Brahms.
