About
Studio Theatre opens its doors for a weekend of Theatre,
Creativity and Community
18th & 19th September 2026 Open to all, free event for families, theatre enthusiasts, or the simply curious, come and discover
what happens behind the scenes of a theatre. There will be opportunities to meet the people
who bring productions to life, try your hand at creative activities, and find out how you can get
involved.
Join our members on Friday 18th September from 7.15pm for a relaxed social evening- the bar will be open, so come along to socialise, meet new
friends and enjoy the atmosphere. At 8pm there will be a performance of The Bluestocking and
The Shepherdess – The Bloomsbury Group in Wiltshire, devised by Lesley Bates. Visitors are
welcome to watch the performance or simply enjoy the social evening, bar, and opportunity to
explore the theatre.
On Saturday 19th September, from 10am to 4pm, the theatre will open its backstage spaces
for a full day of discovery and hands-on activities.
Regular guided tours will begin from 10.15am, with opportunities to explore the theatre and
meet members of different departments, including set construction, lighting and sound, props,
stage management, wardrobe, and front of house. Demonstrations, displays and hands-on
activities will help reveal the many skills involved in creating a production.
From 11am, visitors can join a programme of informal 30-minute drop-in workshops including
theatre games or trying out some Shakespeare. There will also be plenty for younger visitors and
families, including creative make-and-do activities.
The Open Weekend is not just about seeing what happens on stage – it is about discovering the
many opportunities to get involved. Our theatre depends on a huge range of skills and people
working together. Visitors can find out more about volunteering and membership, and meet the
people who make Studio Theatre happen.
