Bath Opera brings Donizetti's much-loved comic opera The Elixir of Love to Seend in west Wiltshire, as part of its Summer Tour 2026. This OperaCorto production offers great opera in just 90 minutes with a 30-minute interval, sung in English and accompanied by piano.
The production tells the charming story of the shy Nemorino, who believes a mysterious love potion will help him win the heart of the witty and independent Adina — but travelling salesman Dulcamara may not be quite the miracle-worker he claims to be. Packed with romance, humour and glorious melodies, including the famous aria Una furtiva lagrima, this lively adaptation is perfect for both seasoned opera lovers and those discovering the genre for the first time.
There is one performance in Seend: an evening performance on Sunday 12th July 2026 at 7pm. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy professional opera in a beautiful west Wiltshire village — The Elixir of Love is one of nine performances on Bath Opera's Summer Tour 2026, which also takes in venues across Bath, Somerset and Wiltshire between late June and mid-July.
