About
Once again Bradford Choral are presenting their Christmas concert amid the glitter of Holy Trinity's Christmas Tree Festival, on Friday 9th December at 7pm.
This Year's music includes four movements from Benjamin Britten's mediaeval-style "A Ceremony of Carols".
Completely different is the 1st public performance of "A Mother's Song" by Andrew Whitfield. This samba-style carol was commended in the Radio 3 Carol
  competition several years ago.
Joining Bradford Choral are two outstanding guest performers, organist Stephen Hollas and harpist Emily Mullins.
Stephen Hollas studied music and art history at Cambridge and performance at the Welsh College of Music and Drama. For several years head of music at St
Lawrence School, Bradford-on-Avon, he now teaches piano there. He accompanies Bath Minerva Choir, Cantamus Chamber Choir, and "Men with Horns", plays
  continuo
in baroque works, and enjoys partnering singers in the lieder repertoire.
Emily Mullins has played for the CBSO, the BBC, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Bristol Ensemble, Orchestra of the Swan, and many regional orchestras. She
 also
plays with Bristol Ensemble's Stephanie Gilbert as part of GEMS flute and harp duo. Emily has a Bmus from Birmingham University and teaches the harp in
 schools
including Millfield, Clifton College, Kingswood, RHSB and Downside. She gives storytelling workshops in primary schools and outreach concerts at care homes.
Musical Director Alan Burgess, growing up in Wales, read music at Edinburgh University where he furthered his love of choral music. He has taught music in schools in Scotland and England. He's directed several choirs locally and has directed Bradford Choral since autumn 2018.
Although over the years each concert has been different, they have always featured traditional carols for audience participation. This year is no different and it's something the choir enjoys too!
