About

Belinda Lang will direct a new production of Lucy Kirkwood's The Children at Salisbury Playhouse in April 2022. Wiltshire Creative's production of The Children will be its UK regional première, following its original run at the Royal Court Theatre in 2016. The Children opens on 8 April 2022, with previews from 7 April and runs until 23 April.

"Retired people are like nuclear power stations. They like to live by the sea."

★ ★ ★ ★  "A richly suggestive and beautifully written piece of work.... Kirkwood is the most rewarding dramatist of her generation." Paul Taylor, The Independent

Two ageing scientists in an isolated cottage on the coast, as the world around them crumbles. Then an old friend arrives with a frightening request.

The regional premiere of a compelling and entertaining drama about ageing and responsibility.

Lucy Kirkwood's plays include  Chimerica,  the winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Play.
