For August 2026 our film is 'Christy', which is a 2025 Irish coming-of-age drama about a 17-year-old navigating foster care and reconnecting with his estranged half-brother in Cork. Directed by Brendan Canty and written by Alan O'Gorman, Christy is inspired by Canty's 2019 short film of the same name. The feature-length debut stars Danny Power as Christy and Diarmuid Noyes as his half-brother Shane, with Emma Willis, Alison Oliver, Chris Walley, and Helen Behan in supporting roles.
The film is set in Knocknaheeny, a working-class area of Cork, Ireland, and explores themes of family, trauma, and community resilience.
