Have you ever wanted to paint a musical track or song?
Helen is a mixed media painter/textile artist specialising in contemporary fine art painting and media, and graduated with a Master's Degree in Fine Art Painting at Winchester School of Art. Her ongoing Visual Music paintings can be viewed in her studio 9 upstairs at Fisherton Mill Studios.
Colour as we know it has a scale of tones, brightness and moods, which is divided into segments of the Colour Wheel. In the early 20th century, artists explored new theories of colour scale representing by the scales of notes and tonal value in music.
In this workshop you will gain an understanding into the theories of Visual Music and the work of 20th Century artists Wassily Kandinsky, Frantisek Kupta and Paul Klee.
In this workshop Helen will take you on a journey from the origin of Visual Music theories and the sensory perception of Synaesthesia as sound and colour. You will be taken through step-by-step process of interpreting sound as colour and form through listening to soundtracks and drawing painting and mark-making techniques that directly link with to develop your sound painting.
Helen will guide you through this experimental and enlightening process. After developing your sound sketches, you will create your own Visual Music painting on a canvas.
