About
Fisherton Mill is delighted to welcome local artist Nick Phillips to Fisherton Mill with an exhibition to include drawings, watercolour, Indian ink and oil paintings on the theme of
the local landscape. Nick's interest in the landscape includes the history, archaeology and geology of the region, in particular the Nadder, Ebble and Wylye Valleys. At the core of his work is the skill of observed drawing. In his painting he looks to expand on his observations, through a rich and vibrant palette, and the primacy of the gestural painted mark. Nick makes work with a conscious eye on the final image, and its place as a totem or symbol, he sees his work as a point to launch a meditation on landscape.
Nick has shown at the Royal West of England Academy, he is a member of the RWA friends' association. He is a friend of the New English Art Club, and an occasional painter with the London Plein Air group. He is a committee member of the Supporters
of the Young Gallery, Salisbury.
