The four pieces included in this recital all reflect solitude in varying and contrasting ways: Henry Purcell's O! Solitude, my sweetest choice (in the arrangement by Benjamin Britten); Schubert's Einsamkeit; Under Alter'd Skies, in which Jonathan Dove explores the unwanted solitude of grief and loss; and Samuel Barber's Hermit Songs.
