Belinda Lang will direct a new production of Lucy Kirkwood's The Children at Salisbury Playhouse in April. Wiltshire Creative's production of The Children will be its English regional première, following its original run at the Royal Court Theatre in 2016.

The play was hailed as one of the top 3 "Best Theatre Shows of the 21st Century" by the Guardian and gained great critical acclaim during its Broadway transfer: winning the Tony Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for 'Best Play'.

Two ageing scientists in an isolated cottage on the coast, as the world around them crumbles. Then an old friend arrives with a frightening request.

The English regional premiere of a witty, compelling and entertaining drama about ageing and responsibility.

Lucy Kirkwood's plays include  Chimerica, the winner of the Olivier Award for Best New Play. The thriller was also the basis of the Channel 4 four-part drama that aired in April 2019

We are delighted to welcome back the wonderful Belinda Lang to direct, an actor herself recently seen at the Playhouse in Duet for One and Alan Bennett's Single Spies and popular 90s TV series 2point4 Children.
