About
Spend a creative autumn day exploring willow as a sculptural material in the beautiful surroundings of the Wardrobe Museum, nestled within Salisbury's historic Cathedral Close.
Inspired by the character, movement and presence of these remarkable birds, this workshop invites you to create your own willow owl sculpture. You can choose to make either a perched owl or a flying owl, developing a piece with its own sense of personality and expression.
Throughout the day, you will be encouraged to observe, interpret and create — looking closely at the form and movement of the owl before translating your ideas into willow. Rather than simply following a pattern, you will explore how natural materials can be shaped and adapted to create a sculpture that reflects your own creative response.
With guidance throughout the process, you will learn how to build structure, develop form and bring character to your sculpture using sustainably sourced willow. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some previous experience, with techniques demonstrated and individual support provided throughout the day.
By the end of the workshop, you will leave with your own unique willow owl sculpture and a deeper appreciation of willow as an expressive artistic medium.
