About

The Swindon & Cricklade Railway is the only standard gauge heritage railway in Wiltshire. Built, run and managed entirely by volunteers, the line occupies the site of the former M&SWJR. In 1978, the volunteer organisation took over the empty track bed and began the task of recreating a working railway for future generations to experience and enjoy.

Train Rides - steam or diesel hauled, using heritage stock and locomotives. For details of which engines are running and when please see our website/social media.

Whistlestop Cafe - Housed in two converted Norwegian Railways carriages serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and meals are served during the railway's open days and special events. Check our website/social media for the latest updates for opening days and times.

Museum - displaying railway memorabilia, with an emphasis on the local line in the BR days.

Gift shop - open during our running days and events, selling a range of pocket money toys, railway history books and train merchandise Car parking - free parking is available from our Blunsdon Station (SN25 2DA).

Parking spaces are also available at Mouldon Hill Country (subject to availability) and access to the S&CR can be gained from our Taw Valley Halt platform (subject to opening times).
