Learn the basics of wood carving, from gaining an understanding of tool sharpening to the fundamental skills of chip-carving or shallow relief carving.

With expert advice from a professional tutor, this 2-day weekend course will give you the opportunity to run through the basics of tool sharpening and care. Beginners will design and carve a chip carved panel, chip carving is a traditional technique used to create decorative surfaces drawing intricate designs with limitless possibilities. Intermediate carvers will carve a naturalistic leaf in low relief.

Aimed at adult beginners or those with some previous experience of wood carving. All materials and tools required for the course will be provided.
