About
The Arts Society Kington Langley is for everyone who appreciates the arts in all its forms. As well as the lively social aspect of our monthly meetings we provide specialist lectures on a wide variety of topics from archaeology to dance and much more.
This hybrid lecture is a wide-ranging exploration of the music chosen by ballet choreographers through the years, proving that the right composition with the addition of the right moves and the right designs can create modern masterpieces and timeless classics.
We move from the grandness of Imperial Russia with the creation of Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and other established and popular works through to the current modern repertoire of the Royal Ballet, exploring the challenges met by both composers and choreographers.
Fully illustrated with audio and performance video clips.
Nigel Bates spent most of his working life with the orchestra at the ROH Covent Garden and is well placed to talk to us about the routines and challenges in the world of opera and ballet.
