Professor Ronald Hutton: The Great European Witch Hunt

About

Between the fifteenth and eighteenth centuries, most European nations feared witchcraft and put people to death for allegedly practising it, on a scale not seen before and never repeated since.

Why did these persecutions occur? Why did they come to an end? And could similar events happen again?

In this fascinating lecture, Professor Ronald Hutton explores one of the most dramatic and troubling episodes in European history.
