Together with Tabla is a performance showcase event with tabla students from Swindon & Gloucestershire and their teacher, percussionist Jon Sterckx.
Students include young beginners and more experienced students who have been learning for 10 years. Each student will perform a short tabla solo and there will be 2 short group performances. Jon will also give a tabla solo performance.
2026 marks the 10th year that Jon has been teaching the tabla classes in Swindon. These are the longest running Indian Music classes in Swindon and surrounding area. Jon runs the classes independently, teaching students from children age 6+ to adults. No previous experience is needed to join the beginners class.
This year will be the seventh year that the Together with Tabla event has been running. (2020 & 2021 were online due to the pandemic. 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 were held in person at The Platform). Thanks to support from Swindon Music Service for the venue.

Tabla is the main percussion instrument played in North Indian classical music & the most popular percussion instrument of the Indian Subcontinent. Tabla is also growing in popularity globally. The amazing range of tones, complex rhythmic patterns and exciting rhythmic compositions of the tabla repertoire make for an enjoyable and exciting performance event.
