Do you have an old pair of jeans, dress, shirt or hat that needs a new life? In this creative hands-on workshop you will learn step-by-step skills to add detail and embellishment to create an up-cycled fashion garment.

Give your pre-loved clothes or an old pair of jeans a new facelift with this up-cycling all day workshop. Feel inspired to create your own unique style. This full day creative hands-on workshop will introduce you to textile art techniques and creative embellishment for updating and up-cycling a pre-loved garment. Bring an old item of clothing to life by adding details like hand-painting fabric, hand or machine stitching to create textile artistry with appliqué, patchwork, and trimmings. You will experiment with layering of different up-cycled textiles and fibres to brighten up pockets, yokes and collars, or create patches and motifs.

We will begin the day with some fashion sketching of your idea on paper to guide you through the development of your design. This will be followed by step-by-step demonstrations of textile embellishment techniques. Bring your own garments to work on, and a photo or drawing of any motif ideas you may have if you have one. All other materials provided. Machine stitching experience an advantage but not essential.
